Into the Wild...thought box of MLe [29 Oct 2007|03:49pm]
[ music | Regina Spektor ]

Who's loving the new Halloweened out Livejournal theme? So festive. I love it when Livejournal and Google have themes to fit the season/occasion. Speaking of current loves, I have a renewed interest in Apple computers. This was initially a superficial lusting based solely on the aesthetic beauty of Macs (mm, clean lines- so delicious) and also due to the fact that I am way susceptible to trends. But now that I’ve had the chance to really use Macs, boy are they superior to my clunky Dell! The notebooks are so portable, I love it. I tried both the Vista and OS X and both are pretty awesome on Macs. This is of course not to say that my reasons for wanting an Apple computer are any less superficial. It's hard to live a defiantly unique existence in this commercialized society, is it not? Don’t tell me you are Gapfree and anti-establishmently candid in your ways. Let us all weave our clothes out of wheat and live off the land because man has soiled what was once so beautiful and pure.

All joking aside…onto a new topic that inspired the previous babbling seen above- Vincent and I saw Into the Wild last night at CineArts in Santana Row. I can’t pass up an Emile Hirsch movie. I’ve been enamored of him since The Dangerous Lives of Altar Boys. All dreaminess aside, I really enjoyed the movie. Chilling and endearing all at once. I personally didn’t feel as if it dragged on at all. Long if you’re reading this, if you haven’t seen it yet, I think you’d really like it. The cinematography was just…breathtaking, really. However, the whole time I was watching it, I was thinking, oh shit…I hope Vincent doesn’t get any ideas from this movie and drops everything to take on the wilderness in some sort of weird quest for self-actualization. I also fear the same of Long if he ever does see it. Haha, only partly kidding.

Oh, man. I just spotted a kickass framed painting in the De Anza computer lab (which btw is where I am currently completing my electronic babble from) and I really want to swoop in on that. I also really need to use the restroom, but I wonder what the unspoken rules are here for leaving your possessions unattended. At UCLA I feel it’s quite safe to do so, but I’m back in the Bay right now. There’s a whole other social discourse here, isn’t there? I don’t know. Forgive my classist snobbery.

Bridget Jones's Diary by Helen Fielding [16 Oct 2007|01:42pm]
"Now, though, I feel ashamed and repulsive. I can actually feel the fat splurging out from my body. Never mind. Sometimes you have to sink to a nadir of toxic fat envelopment in order to emerge, phoenix-like, from the chemical wasteland as a purged and beautiful Michelle Pfeiffer figure. Tomorrow new Spartan health and beauty regime will begin."

"'We women are only vulnerable because we are a pioneer geneartion daring to refuse to compromise in love and relying on our own economic power. In twenty years' time men wont' even dare start with fuckwittage because we will just laugh in their faces,' bellowed Sharon."

"...he thinks we are the Bitch Queens from Hell--which, as Jude points out, is a misapprehension because, though we have discovered our Inner Bitches, we have not yet unlocked them."

So, I managed to drop my phone in the toilet at San Jose International Airport. Being phoneless is not so bad. It's kind of refreshing, really. Well, this pseudo-social isolation won't last long, thanks to Jon the black Mohamed, who so kindly lent me his old LG. I have yet to activate it, though.

I'm currently in the library at De Anza. The environment here is oddly high school-esque to me. It's kinda cool. Weekends in San Jose are like a step out of reality. I like to pretend that I don't actually go to UCLA and that life is just chill. Speaking of which, I should really do some homework now.

VLe: You know, one out of a thousand girls get that.
M: Don't lie.
VLe: No, seriously.
M: Where did you learn that then?
VLe: I know things. I took school.
M: You..took..school. Nice. You're such a liar.
VLe: Uhh..uh..damnit! I couldn't think of anything to say.

I'm very, very fortunate. And don't let me forget that.

I <3 pain killers [17 Sep 2007|02:44pm]
I'm watching She's The Man on HBO right now. Ah, to be unemployed and on summer vacation. Doing nothing feels great. Not that this will last very long, seeing as how I return to UCLA on Friday. I'm also currently suffering from a viral infection of sorts. "Upper respiratory infection," to be exact. My tonsils look digusting, and I've barely been able to speak/eat in the past few days. However, they gave me pain killers for my fever and sore throat, so s'all gravy, baby.

I got an early birthday present. This red little pretty is all mine. Hehe.

[29 Aug 2007|10:30am]
I'm currently at work, obviously right on task. It's my last week at LC and then only one more week in San Jose before I'm back in Sparks with the family.

I'm allowing VLe to cut my hair today after work. Oh, I know. I vowed never to let a San Jose "beautician" touch my hair again after hopping on the Vidal Sassoon bandwagon in Santa Monica, but I will allow VLe, whose disastrous homemade haircuts challenge Mike Score's Flock of Seagulls style, to do the honors. I don't know what I'm thinking. Maybe that it'll be slightly amusing? We shall see.
